I'm SO ready for Spring.

Well, Spring is on the way and I am so ready for it.  Of course, here in the country we're dealing with a ton of mud everywhere because the ground surface has thawed but the frozen earth underneath isn't letting that moisture sink through just yet.  Driving on my road is like trying to get from point A to point B through peanut butter!  Past memory tells me this will only last a short time.

How about you all?  Are you ready for Spring as well?  It's been a strange winter but I'm glad I'm not in the UP where they have had to endure horrible cold and so much snow.  I know they are ready, too.  But, it won't be long before I'll be packing up and heading that way.  Summer is beautiful in the UP.

The featherweight classes are winding down at the Quilt Patch in Tecumseh.  We have one more maintenance class on March 29th and the last Featherweight Club Classes will be April 5 and 7.  I hope you all will be able to make one of those.  I do have a few tricks up my sleeve before I head North for classes in Ironwood, Mi.

I'm so bad at taking pictures when I'm teaching.  I'm focused on one thing and forget the camera or my phone.  But I do have this one picture from our March gathering that I'd like to share.  Carol was so excited to get her FW Case Cover finished and is so proud to carry her precious machine around now.  I'm happy for her, too.  Getting these done is a bit of work but so worth it.

I'm thinking ahead now to the retreats in August and the ones for next year in March.  There is one spot still available for the August 15-18, 2019 retreat and several spots still open for the March 27-29, 2020 retreat.  If you are interested, send me an email.  The retreats are really a good time to get to know your machine and I teach you how to do many things that there's just not enough time to include in the maintenance class.  If you are one of the August retreaters, I'm sending out the information sheets today.  If you think you're on the list for August retreats and you don't get the email, make sure and contact me.

Okay, I do have other things I like to do other than featherweights and I thought I'd share one of my interests this posting.  I just put up a small greenhouse in my basement to grow orchids during the winter.  I got started with this orchid growing thing from my son-in-law buying me an orchid for Mother's day a couple of years ago, and I struggle keeping them alive during the winter.  It's so dry in the house.  Orchids love my SW facing window at the cabin in the UP.  They thrive up there.  But, I thought a greenhouse might do the trick so we'll see how it works.  My plan is to put the plants that aren't blooming in the greenhouse to relax a bit and just have the blooming ones upstairs to enjoy the color and in some cases, the smells.  I'll keep you posted on how this plan works.  Don't look at the mess surrounding the greenhouse.  It is a basement after all.

So,  the flea market season isn't over for me yet.  I'll be at the Lenawee  county flea market on March 23rd at the fairgrounds there.  I will have a few featherweights for sale as well as 'stuff'.  And then, I'm still working on the grandson's wedding quilt to have it done in time for the wedding.  I'll report later on that project.

Enjoy the nice weather the next few days....... We deserve some sunshine!
